Shemot (Exodus) narrates Israel's enslavement in Egypt, Moses's prophetic calling, the Passover and departure from Egypt, and the revelation of the Torah at Mount Sinai. It also contains the construction of the Tabernacle (Mishkan), the portable sanctuary for divine worship in the wilderness.
