JPS-1917וַיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֑וֹם וַיִּפְתַּ֣ח נֹ֔חַ אֶת־חַלּ֥וֹן הַתֵּבָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃
And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

מקץ ארבעים יום. מִשֶּׁנִּרְאוּ רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים:
את חלון התבה אשר עשה. לְצֹהַר, וְלֹא זֶה פֶּתַח הַתֵּבָה הֶעָשׂוּי לְבִיאָה וִיצִיאָה:
מקץ ארבעים יום AT THE END OF FORTY DAYS from when the tops of the mountains were seen. את חלון התבה אשר עשה THE WINDOW OF THE ARK WHICH HE HAD MADE — for the light; it does not mean the door of the Ark intended for entry and exit.
