וַיְגָ֖רֶשׁ אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֑ם וַיַּשְׁכֵּן֩ מִקֶּ֨דֶם לְגַן־עֵ֜דֶן אֶת־הַכְּרֻבִ֗ים וְאֵ֨ת לַ֤הַט הַחֶ֙רֶב֙ הַמִּתְהַפֶּ֔כֶת לִשְׁמֹ֕ר אֶת־דֶּ֖רֶךְ עֵ֥ץ הַֽחַיִּֽים׃ {ס}        

So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubim, and the flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way to the tree of life.

רש״י — Genesis 3:24

מקדם לגן עדן. בְּמִזְרָחוֹ שֶׁל גַּן עֵדֶן חוּץ לַגַּן: את הכרובים. מַלְאֲכֵי חַבָּלָה: החרב המתהפכת. וְלָהּ לַהַט לְאַיֵּם עָלָיו מִלִּכָּנֵס עוֹד לַגַּן תַּרְגּוּם לַהַט שְׁנַן, כְּמוֹ שָׁלַף שְׁנָנָא וּבִלְשׁוֹן לַעַז לא"מא וּמִדְרְשֵׁי אַגָּדָה יֵשׁ, וַאֲנִי אֵינִי בָא אֶלָּא לִפְשׁוּטוֹ:
