JPS-1917וַיַּ֨עַן לָבָ֤ן וּבְתוּאֵל֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מֵיְהֹוָ֖ה יָצָ֣א הַדָּבָ֑ר לֹ֥א נוּכַ֛ל דַּבֵּ֥ר אֵלֶ֖יךָ רַ֥ע אוֹ־טֽוֹב׃
Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said: ‘The thing proceedeth from the LORD; we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.

ויען לבן ובתואל. רָשָׁע הָיָה, וְקָפַץ לְהָשִׁיב לִפְנֵי אָבִיו:
לא נוכל דבר אליך. לְמָאֵן בַּדָּבָר הַזְֶּה לֹא עַל יְדֵי תְשׁוּבַת דָּבָר רַע וְלֹא עַל יְדֵי תְשׁוּבַת דָּבָר הָגוּן, וְנִכָּר שֶׁמֵּה' יָצָא הַדָּבָר, לְפִי דְּבָרֶיךָ שֶׁזִּמְּנָהּ לְךָ (בראשית רבה):
