Va'eira covers Exodus 6:2–9:35, beginning with God's renewed covenant promise to Moses and the first seven of the ten plagues of Egypt: blood, frogs, lice, wild beasts, pestilence, boils, and hail. Pharaoh repeatedly hardens his heart and refuses to release the Israelites despite the escalating divine signs.
