Numbers 32:41
JPS-1917וְיָאִ֤יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁה֙ הָלַ֔ךְ וַיִּלְכֹּ֖ד אֶת־חַוֺּתֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶתְהֶ֖ן חַוֺּ֥ת יָאִֽיר׃
And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the villages thereof, and called them Havvoth-jair.

חותיהם. כַּפְרָנֵיהוֹן:
ויקרא אתהן חות יאיר. לְפִי שֶׁלֹּא הָיוּ לוֹ בָנִים קְרָאַתָם בִּשְׁמוֹ לְזִכָּרוֹן:
חותיהם This is rendered in the Targum by THEIR VILLAGES. ויקרא אתהן חות יאיר AND HE CALLED THEM “THE VILLAGES OF JAIR” — Because he had no children, he named them after himself, as a memorial.
