Lamentations איכה

Megillat Eicha (Lamentations) consists of five elegies in the Ketuvim mourning the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 586 BCE, read publicly on Tisha B'Av, the fast commemorating the Temple's destruction. The acrostic structure of the Hebrew poems reflects both the totality of grief and the attempt to impose order on catastrophe.
